Someday I’ll tell them,
The babies my arms have never carried, though my heart always will…
Someday I’ll tell them,
How I prayed they’d be mine.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How deeply they were wanted.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How I was covered in joy to be their mom.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How fully my heart broke, how long it ached, when I lost them.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How expecting again felt like a battle in the soul between terror and hope.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How hard I had to work to find peace in that storm.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How our home eventually became full with the sounds of children.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How even in the flurry that became life, in my heart they always stayed.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How their life and loss has shaped me.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How I’m more grateful.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How my heart is softer.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How they taught me not to take anything for granted.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How tightly I hold their siblings.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How they’ve never really left me.
Someday I’ll tell them,
How much they are loved.
Someday I'll tell them...
Because someday,
I’ll hold them.
