Raising kids isn’t always served with a thank you.
So much of what’s done, what’s given, what’s poured out, can feel unseen and unappreciated.
… a lot in certain seasons.
But maybe sometimes we just need to know where to look.
Maybe it’s the way your baby settles in that soulful calm way for your arms only.
Maybe it’s little hands wrapped around your leg as you make dinner.
Maybe it’s a teenager texting you a meme that made them laugh, so you’d laugh too.
Maybe it’s in a picture you pull from a school backpack.
Maybe it’s a fistful of dandelions and eyes lit up to see your response.
Maybe it’s your favorite coffee mug filled up and waiting for you.
Maybe it’s the way they might hold something in all day, then fall to tears when they come home, because you’re their safe spot.
Maybe it’s an “I love Mom” written into the steam of the bathroom mirror.
You know… when we really look, this “thankless job” is full of gratitude.
And I give thanks for all of it.
